Re: Dissociative Identity Disorder Carers?
Was too tired to do an update yesterday...
We'd finished a couple of the essential errands when we got a teary phonecall from Older Daughter asking if we could come in to the hospital. We ended up spending most of the day in various ER rooms, in discussion with a doctor, and her usual MH worker was able to reshuffle her schedule to come in too. She needs a plastic surgeon, which is booked in for Thursday. While it's a long-ish drive away, it's a closer location than last time.
Meanwhile, she needed to somehow be kept from making things worse. It was with SI, and she's still feeling that way. The MHU was full and the hospital can't allocate beds to MH patients. We'd reached a "not brilliant but will have to do" plan for keeping her safe at her home, had dropped her off there, but just after we left, we got a phonecall saying a room had become available in the MHU. So we doubled back and took her and a couple of nights' luggage to the unit.
She was pretty unhappy about being there, but alternatives are a bit light on. As much as she hates it, she does need realise it's a reasonable consequence of her actions.
It's probably a good thing that Younger Daughter is in the middle of full on school production rehearsals. That means she's spending a lot of time with friends, doing something she enjoys. Am hoping that will cushion her a lot from what's going on.
Hubby's having a sleep in after yesterday's exhaustion. I've got the very repetitive hold music from the hospital phonelines being an on and off mindworm. (Yeek, shouldn't have mentioned it, it's back!) Hubby's DSP assessment is scheduled for Friday, and ironically, this week means his anxiety levels have had a top up... so the assessment may be more convincing as a result? They do need a realistic idea of how things are at their worst, but still, it's not welcome. 😞

Re: Dissociative Identity Disorder Carers?
She's been repaired and is back home at the end of a very long day. Hoping she can keep herself intact, at least for a while. We need time to heal up too. 😞
Off to much needed bed. Thanks all for the watching eyes and the prayers.

Re: Dissociative Identity Disorder Carers?
@Determined, @Former-Member, thanks. Been keeping my head down a little.
Hubby's appointment was, to be honest, kind of frustrating. The person doing it was trying to very much go by the book. Fair enough, but "the book" is still very much geared to physical disablities, and psychological "injuries" don't always fit into it very neatly. And they were also very much trying to separate out Hubby's mental condition from the family situation, which makes about as much sense as trying to separate the parameters of a physical injury from the pain resulting from the injury...
We'll see what happens. From one or two little clues dropped, I think he might get it. If not, there's the appeals process. Which we'd prefer not to have to navigate right now.
