Self-Acceptance

Self-Acceptance

It is essential to have self-acceptance to get rid of our issues regarding body image. Achieving self-acceptance and increasing self-love involves a combination of mindfulness, self-compassion, and practical habits. One can start by practicing self-awareness, acknowledging both strengths and imperfections without judgment. Engaging in positive self-talk, replacing critical thoughts with affirmations that promote kindness and encouragement. Setting boundaries and learning to say no to things that don't align with our values is also key. Regular mental and physical self-care nurtures self-worth, while reflecting on past successes helps reinforce our values. Consistency is essential as these habits build over time, allowing us to develop a deeper, more genuine acceptance of ourselves. It is while we develop self-love and improve self-acceptance that we can finally be able to stop comparing ourselves to others.

Re: Self-Acceptance

When I was feeling unloved for my professional, 'woody', albeit a lot less feisty than Julia Gillard, persona being replaced with the emotional, whinging me. I thought nobody liked me. A lovely chaplain told me that if I practise self love and accept the parts of me that I like, I will find people who love and accept me too. When I am in the goldfish bowl with the little fish, I am predominantly ok and do get to swim with the sharks but I am shark bait. Having a companion animal, a lovely cat, who loves me more than any other human, helps.

Self-acceptance is a very worthy thing to work towards @heera72 though it can sometimes be a long battle. It's certainly something that I've been working on for many years, it feels like something that will be a life long journey and will continue to change and grow as I do, while also having those natural ebbs and flows where it may be more difficult or easy during different stages of life.

Do you have anything that has helped you as you work towards self-acceptance @heera72

Re: Self-Acceptance

Hi, I don't know you or what you go through but I personally found that self acceptance comes when you do not compare yourself to others, especially those on social media. Think positively and don't be hard on yourself. I found that when I focused on enhancing myself emotionally and mentally, I was really able to accept who I am. I linked some articles that may help you!
