I have really had very few people see me or care about me. I take solace in nature and from random smiles and waves from strangers. Oh they can see me, I must be alive. When I first joined this forum, I felt pretty invisible.
I have worked hard to build a more positive but authentic story, than the painful truth I have had to live. I can go to my local shop and a few checkout chicks recognise me and are friendly and these days I can joke with them.
For the first 12 years after I left my marriage, I quietly did my rehab exercises, one lady at the gym, came to see me and said, you keep at it, but I can see you are in physical pain. I tried a physio, who sneered, you are just going to complain. Probably not, actually, but these days I notice those in paid employment who are not doing their jobs. Yes, doctors and lawyers who dismiss me, and were paid for the privilege. I am pretty tired, but have to be grateful as that has been my path. My energy is limited and I know that there is work to be done. My hands are sore from overuse, but I don’t know how to stop doing what needs to be done. I know all people have pain and yes sometimes silly distracting games are worth it to lift the spirits. Or even the memories of light heartedness.
