Observing new tools! - Abraham Hicks

Hello beautiful people! 💜

 

I recently discovered 'Abraham Hicks'. You may have heard or recall the movie/book called "The Secret" (late 90's?).

 

It was considered a little 'gimmicky' & had some bad publicity. I never read it.

 

Esther a.k.a Abraham Hicks is the wife of the author of The Secret.

 

I discovered her, when I was googling a phrase that was new to me, that I really loved. The phrase is - "consider radical acceptance".

 

Abraham Hicks has lots of You tube audio, if interested.

 

As carers & as people with lived experience, we are vulnerable to becoming easily drained & overwhelmed.

 

SANE has helped distinguish to me the importance of self care (using my own oxygen mask first) & 'identifying tools for my toolbox.'

 

I am still mastering it!!

 

The messages conveyed in Abraham Hicks offer an alignment with the values, i also seek to attain.

 

Below, I've shared a few quote images & then copy & pasted "46 Inspirational Abraham Hicks Quotes to Live By" I found in an article.

It's mostly 'law of attraction' type stuff.

 

Regardless of how intriguing any 'guru' - I am cautious & sceptical of lending my power.

 

I love exploring 'new ways' to manage this messy, uncomfortable, precious life! All the things, are adding to my toolbox! 

 

Sharing, as a means to possibly provide support to other carers too! If you like it, I recommend listening to her on You tube. I have only listened to 3 so far. I felt more calm & strong essence of truth. YMMV!!

Empathy is a big one, ppl who have tonnes of it are often always someone to lean on for others, which is hard at times, but also they shine bright, as u do.

Perhaps I am misunderstanding the word (empathy) I think, the thing I have 'tonnes' of is compassion. 

 

Maybe the difference, is that when you (I) feel empathy, you're entering into another's space - taking on their emotions.

 

To me, compassion is about the understanding & awareness that others hurt & a willingness to offer help.

 

-Comparable to doctors not getting involved with patients?-

 

I would like to hold on to my compassion & release unnecessary empathy.

It's complicated subject.

 

I like these descriptions best;

 

Sympathy means you can understand what the person is feeling.

Empathy means that you feel what a person is feeling. Compassion is the willingness to relieve the suffering of another.

I am particularly sensitive to others emotions. I can feel them easily, as though they are speaking loudly with the 'voice of their body.'

 

I think it's called being an empath.

 

 

It gives me access to a 'higher knowledge.' 

 

I also don't think it's that great for my mental health.

 

I am learning, & becoming much better at containing my own energies & not taking on the energies of others.

Hey @maddison I have one of Abraham-Hicks books!!! The book I have is "Ask and it is Given" its a manifestation book with hundreds of ideas on how to draw into your life the things you so desire.  Its mainly a reference book. Anyway thought I'd toss it in.  Have not been back to Abraham-Hicks in a while always good to be reminded again! ❤️

I feel like it's a lovely way to remind ourselves to be present and be conscious of how much space thinking about things can take up in our head ❤️
