Schizoaffective Disorder for self and MI in your partner or spouse as well...

This is a discussion forum for anyone who has Schizoaffective disorder but who is also a carer for someone who has any other mental illness.  I just would like to learn from my fellow journeyers on a long road.

Hello @Former-Member

Great idea of starting a thread about your experiences as a carer, I moved this thread to an area of the forums that other members might find it more easily to be able to contribute, I hope that's okay.

You might like to Introduce Yourself to the carers section of the thread here

and there is also a social thread where you can drop in for a Hot Chocolate with other carers here

Look forward to getting to know you better,

Lunar

Re: Schizoaffective Disorder for self and MI in your partner or spouse as well...

Hi, Our 30 year old son has recently been newly diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder provisional diagnosis Bipolar 1. Still lives at home.

He recently started on mediction a "low dose". He is not happy about it and wants to stop as he feels it inhibits his "intuition" and makes him tired and depressed.  We are happy to talk to him but often he wants to start talking late in the evening when we are tired from the day, conversations often go around in circles, what should we say? He is not working studing or in a good daily routine but seems content with this. We feel a routine in his day of getting up at  a set time and at least doing some exercise woud help him feel better.

Suggetions or thoughts?
