How is your recovery coming along @outlander ?

The op itself I think went ok, wasn't really told anything after it. they said they took the 6 teeth out but needed to take another one (so now 7) and put a few extra sutures here and there on my cheek and was approx. 9 sets of stitches of varying sizes (ie just one or 2 some more). before being discharged one of the nurses in that ward did come to explain about the nerve damage symptoms I may encounter which I am experiencing and its so damn annoying and frustrating since its both numb, itching and tinging all at the same time!!!! hopefully it eases though but ill be telling the specialist on Friday when I see them.
Apparently It took me nearly 2 hours to show signs of waking from general in the recovery room. I could hear what was going on around me as I was waking up but couldn't respond or see much (my vision was abit blurry). I had one nurse who was gentle and was trying to take the oxygen mask off as it was tangled in the icepack but the other nurse just took it off her and c-ut the strap and yanked it off then was taken back to their pre/post op ward. I don't really know how long after that I was out but when I could see the clock it said 4 (and I was taken into op at 10am).
ive contacted the hospital to get further details about how it all actually went rather then being thrown from ward to ward then discharged.
I was discharged the same day surprisingly though since I was still abit dizzy, they had to keep trying to get my oxygen levels up to a normal level and I literally couldn't swollow anything from both the swelling from extractions and the tubing as well. the pain was already surfacing by the time I was getting ready for discharge but couldn't do much considering even taking a sip of water was like swallowing raz-ors. had an awful cough as well so i needed to drink but drinking also made it worse.
we are on day 3 now and I feel worse then the last 2. im more tired and wobbly now then when I left and just feeling really off colour. I have all these pills to take but im struggling to swollow even water still so ive been crushing them up but then comes the nausea for the same reason of not being able to keep anything down so its a cycle of trying to manage pain so I can stay hydrated and attempt to have something more then water/milk (cant have juice because it burns my throat). I tried jelly but I nearly threw that one up but finally managed a few mouthfuls (anything more and everything starts to get that pull feeling) of those cup-a-soups with literally nothing but flavour and water so ill take that.
its becoming abit distressing that I cant seem to get anything to go my way nor can I vocalise that since I still have no voice and minimal movement in my jaw. I cant sleep but I sit on the lounge with my eyes rolling around, needing to manage pain but feeling sick (sometimes with a burning stomach to go with it) and in pain to do so. family helped out while I was away but basically pestered me about when I was coming home basically straight after my op and now haven't heard from them since. there was a few hiccups where I had to text them or get mum to ring to help them out with his issues. I know hes trying to help but its making me more distressed that hes trying to help by constantly asking questions or acting distressed around me from his own ailments then flares up my own pain. @Former-Member

Sounds like a bit of respite might be what you need @outlander , being looked after as you recover.
Can you suck on ice?

@outlander it is not easy. Hope the swelling starts to ease soon and swallowing becomes easier.

Hate to say this, because I know it will be hard to manage. You've got to try and get some food into yourself. 😞
Painkillers and antibiotics are hard on your digestive system, and taking both on a nearly empty stomach will be a big part of why you're nauseous. And both hunger and the painkillers will be contributing to "feeling wobbly" too.
Our Older Daughter was in a similar state after she had dental surgery. We ended up getting her to a doctor, who confirmed that everything was being made worse or even caused by not eating enough.
Sorry, I'm pretty sure this isn't what you want to hear. Can you think of anything you could keep next to you to eat in little bits, even if its only a spoonful at a time every five minutes? (Which means it probably needs to be food that's OK cold/room temp.)

I was thinking thinking it was you who might check in for respite and have some TLC given to you @outlander . Hopefully things will turn for the better soon.
